Christa was a bridesmaid at Lauren's wedding.

Sorry there are no pictures of Mom or Dad. They seem to have avoided the camera

Snow Day!

Four inches of snow today meant a day off of school and time to relax and work on odds and ends at home. We took down all of our Christmas decorations today :( and replaced them with snowmen :)

The five of us really enjoyed our Christmas break although it was full of activity and seemed fairly short. Sandi's break started early and she came home the second week of December. The weekend after final exams at the high school Mom, Sandi, and I took a trip up to Wisconsin to pick up Christa after her first semester of college was complete, and we also got a chance to visit family. Although the trip was short it was worth it to see everyone.

We celebrated Christmas here with just the five of us. We spent quite a bit of time playing games (our new favorite, a card game version of Monopoly), straining at a puzzle, listening/playing Christmas music, and watching football. Christmas is a favorite holiday at our house - the cold air outside, singing of Christmas carols, the joy of being with family, and the special reminder of God's love for us. As our pastor mentioned in his sermon on Christmas Eve: God sent us his son with an extraordinary love to us on Christmas and it is a gift worth sharing - nothing gets much better than that :-)

The day after Christmas the Lady Cougars kicked off a Christmas tournament. With some exciting plays and supporting fans we made it to the championship to take on our archrival and host team. Unfortunately our shots didn't fall and we ended up taking home 2nd place, but we are all happy with our accomplishments at the tournament.

Following the tournament, we all traveled down to Oklahoma for our cousin Lauren's wedding. It was a lovely occasion. Sandi, Mom, and Christa traveled down two days earlier than Dad and I, and they worked hard helping to make it beautiful! We all wish Lauren and Jordy the best!

Sandi and Christa both returned to their schools the first week of January and the house has returned to being much quieter and a little lonely. The three of us at home, however, are anticipating Christa's return next weekend with the Concordia Wind Symphony. :-)

Wishing you a (belated) Merry Christmas and a GREAT next year,
Angie

Hello

So, although this is not technically a memo from Missouri (HA, this is actually Christa posting from CUW) I thought I'd post cause I don't know how soon Angie will, or what all she will say...
WE ARE SO PROUD OF ANGIE!!! She finished up cross-country season last weekend, while Dad, Sandi, Jon, and I were celebrating at Peter and Emily's wedding. Monday, she began basketball try-outs which lasted til Wednesday. Wednesday she found out that she will be playing on the Varsity basketball team (which is quite an accomplishment for a freshman!) WAY TO GO, SISTER! Don't know what else is going 0n besides that Mom only has one more week of Ablaze left, and in just two short weeks (hopefully) I will be home again.
Well that's al for now... to see what I'm up to visit http://christasteinbacher.blogspot.com

Last weekend was Homecoming. Our football team pulled off a win in the cold, and then on Saturday we all dressed up an went to the dance. My friend and I got ready together and then went to another classmate's house with about 15 other people for dinner and then headed off to the dance. The dance was a lot of fun and I even saw Jon there!
The swine flu and other sickenesses have been going around at both of our schools. Fortunately, Dad and I have stayed pretty healthy but Mom isn't feeling the greatest. It hasn't slowed her down too much and thankfully she is getting better.
We all are enjoying an extended weekend the next couple of days for fall break and parent-teacher conferences. Next weekend we are looking forward to Christa's fall break.
The Cross Country season is quickly ending in the next few weeks as we compete in the District and State meets. Last week we had our conference race on a very wet and muddy course. Despite the mud, however, our whole team did very well and the girls finished in 2nd place and the boys in 3rd place overall.
Today, I got my Driver's permit. I was pretty excited yet nervous to actually get my hands on the wheel. Mom took me to an empty parking lot and I just practiced driving around. It was tons better than I expected and there aren't any new scratches on the car!

Sorry it's been a while since I posted. The last month went by very quickly.

The last weekend of September was Sandi's fall break so she was able to come home for awhile. Unfortunately for her, most of Saturday, the four of us were in Kansas City because of a Cross Country Meet. We were very excited to see Peter at the meet! We hung out at his house afterwards and ate at Famous Dave's before heading back home. (Thanks Peter it was really enjoyable).

We've been able to keep in touch with Christa on Skype. She just had a concert at Mequon where all 3 of her musical groups performed and it went very well.

The weather in St. Louis has already started to get colder. This morning it was down in the 30s but eventually warmed up to about 60. We had almost nonstop rain from Wednesday night to Friday morning which caused one of our Cross Country meets to get cancelled. We miss Sandi and Christa and all of our family out of town. Hope you are all doing well!

Starting Up Again

Hi Everyone! This is Angie. I'm new with blogging so I'm not quite sure how to do this or what to say. School's in full swing now for the three of us left in Missouri as well as for my sisters in AL and WI. We miss Sandi and Christa very much, but somehow we've managed to keep our schedules pretty busy.
Mom is teaching part-time PE at Zion still and has also volunteered to help coach the 6th grade volleyball team. They won their first match in a very close and exciting game. This Sunday Dad and I surprised Mom with a party to celebrate her
50th birthday which is this coming Monday.
Dad is teaching at LHS. It doesn't feel too unusual being at the same school although he sometimes comes into my chemistry class and likes to joke around with my teacher but its not too embarassing. He's been taking me to and from school and other places where I need to go and has graciously stayed at school longer until I'm done with practice. Both of my parents have been very flexible and unselfish to adjust to my cross-country and school schedules.
We've talked to Sandi and Christa many times already and they both seem to be happy where they are. Sandi is playing on an intramural football team and really enjoying it. Christa is participating in the choir, band, and handbells at Mequon. (Sorry I don't know the official names of the groups.) We miss them both!
I've started my first year of high school and feel like it has gone pretty smoothly. It's great to get to know so many different people. I've been running Cross-Country this year, and I love it. Everyone on the team is so encouraging and supportive and the coaches are awesome! I'm so thankful to have the opportunity to be on this small but close group. Our first meet was last Friday and we have another one tomorrow. We couldn't have a team score last week since we had some injuries and didn't have enough to run as a team, but everyone did extremely well.
Remembering the anniversary of 9-11 of today, I thank God for the gift of life He's given me and for so many luxuries that I know I overlook way too often. I hope you are all doing well and enjoy the picutres of our first meet and Mom's surprise birthday party.
Love,
AngieGetting ready before the race. This is 5 of the 7 girls on the team
